Saturday Shooting Death In Delco Believed To Be Random​: Authorities​

County officials said a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

HAVERFORD, PA — A $5,000 reward is being offered for information on the suspect in the fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night in Haverford, according to Delaware County officials.

Haverford Township Police Chief Viola said the victim is John Le, 29, of Narberth. Investigators are tracking leads in the shooting, which occurred at about 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. They believe the incident at an apartment on the 2300 block of Haverford Road was random.

The suspect was last seen fleeing toward Lower Merion Township after the incident.

Viola said the suspect is the same person who fired shots in Philadelphia's Overbrook section about 45 minutes before Le's death.

At about 5:10 p.m., the victim was told by phone that someone was looking into the rear entrance of his residence, which is on the 1600 block of North 77th Street in Overbrook, Philadelphia Police stated.

Another person joined the victim to check the area and the pair saw a male matching the description of the suspicious male, police said.

When confronted by the two victims, the suspect pulled out a firearm and began to shoot, police said.

The vehicle both victims were traveling in was struck several times.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid to late 20s, standing 5-feet 9-inches tall, of a thin build between 150 to 160 pounds, with a dark complexion, full close cropped beard and mustache and wearing a thin red pullover sweatshirt and gray jeans. He was operating a charcoal Volvo sedan that is a mid-2000s model with an unknown license plate, police said.

Viola said the last homicide in Haverford was in 2003.
