Seniors Invited to Learn About Free Fitness Program March 18

Rose Tree Place and BAYADA Partner to Offer Free Certified Fitness and Wellness Class to Support Senior Health in Media

To help area seniors maintain healthy bodies and minds, Rose Tree Place, a Watermark Retirement Community in Media, has partnered with BAYADA Home Health Care Senior Living Solutions to offer free fitness and wellness classes. The innovative partnership, just launched in January 2019, allows seniors living at Rose Tree Place easy access to an ongoing certified fitness and wellness class that focuses on their unique needs in addition to valuable exercises that support senior health. Rose Tree Place and BAYADA now invite area seniors to join residents in taking advantage of this free fitness and wellness program with an introductory class on Monday, March 18 at 3 p.m. in the third floor Activities Room.

Seniors from the Greater Philadelphia Region who are interested in this March 18 fitness and wellness class should RSVP to Rose Tree Place associate Michael Rasmussen at 610-565-1405, ext. 118. Participants should come prepared to exercise, discuss their health goals, socialize and have fun.

Taught by BAYADA Fitness and Wellness Instructor Michele Evans, a licensed physical therapy assistant, the fitness and wellness classes incorporate exercises that focus on mobility, core strength and stability, balance while seated, functional movement, strength, power and aerobic fitness. While the content benefits all seniors, it is ideal for seniors new to exercise, those with pain in their upper body or legs, those who have difficulty walking beyond a short distance and those unable to get out of a chair without using their arms. Currently, the class attracts residents with a wide range of abilities and interests, including residents in wheelchairs and couples who enjoy improving their level of fitness together.

“Our community is committed to helping seniors thrive, and we see this partnership with BAYADA as a way to strengthen this commitment,” said Rose Tree Place Executive Director Cindy Evans. “The new fitness and wellness program helps participants overcome or better adapt to physical issues to improve the quality of their lives. It also assists participants in taking a proactive approach to their health, which can help prevent future illness and injury. We are eager to introduce this program and its benefits to seniors in our region on March 18, and we hope that after learning about it, they continue to take advantage of this and our range of wellness, social and educational programs at Rose Tree Place.”

Rose Tree Place regularly calls upon the expertise and interests of residents, associates, loved ones and guests to lead courses and trips through its Watermark University. These offerings are presented quarterly in a catalog and made available to both residents and area seniors. Watermark University aims to promote healthy aging through meaningful opportunities to learn, teach, grow and achieve wellness.
