Sheriff Says Scammers Are Posing As Delaware County Deputies
Sheriff Sanders said his office and Jury Services will never contact residents by phone and ask for money to avoid arrest or jury duty.
MEDIA, PA — Delaware County Sheriff Jerry L. Sanders, Jr. says scammers pretending to be from his office are calling residents and asking for money.
Sanders posted on Facebook Wednesday that these scammers pose as deputies or county employees. The callers tell the person who answers the phone "that there is a warrant for their arrest, or they are subject to arrest for failing to appear for jury duty, or similar ruses."
Then, the scammers request some kind of payment like a prepaid money or gift card. They may also ask for personal information.
