South Media Fire Company Invites Nether Providence Residents to Experience Life as a Volunteer Firefighter

South Media Fire Company invites Nether Providence residents to experience volunteer firefighting firsthand during a free three-night event.

What does it take to become a volunteer firefighter? South Media Fire Company is giving Nether Providence Township residents the chance to find out for themselves during “Evening in the Life.” The three-night recruitment experience will take place November 2, 4 and 5 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the fire station, 535 Washington Avenue, Media, PA 19063. Participants have the option of signing up for one night or all.

The event will allow locals to train alongside South Media’s volunteer firefighters and learn skills used to respond to emergencies.

“People may be curious about volunteering but not know what to expect or whether it’s right for them,” said South Media Fire Company Chief Maxwell Hopkins. “Evening in the Life allows them to come in, meet our members and experience what we do firsthand. It’s a great way to see what being a volunteer firefighter is really like before joining.”
