Special Hearing On Opioid Fight At Delco Community College

Two local state senators will host a hearing on how to combat the opioid epidemic and how to treat those battling addiction.

MEDIA, PA — A special hearing will be held in Media Wednesday that will discussion how to combat the opioid epidemic and how to treat those battling addiction.

The hearing is being held at the request of state Senators Tim Kearney (D- Chester/Delaware) and Anthony H. Williams (D- Delaware/Philadelphia).

The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Large Auditorium of the Academic Building at Delaware County Community College, 901 S. Media Line Road in Media.

"The opioid epidemic has hit our communities hard, and it’s going to take an all-hands approach to prevent addiction, get people into treatment and save lives," Kearney said. “This hearing will be critical to developing the bold plans we need to tackle this crisis head on and provide communities with the resources they need.

"The opioid epidemic has had a deep impact in our communities and across Pennsylvania," Williams said. "We need to find compassionate solutions for getting these drugs out of our communities, and for healing the individuals and families who have been harmed most by opioid addiction."
