Springton Lake Students Receive Outstanding Video Editing Award

Students video tape and interview Penn Machine Works employees

Eighth Grade Springton Lake Students, (l-r back) Nathaniel Hall, Ethan Buchanan, Dylan Colvin, Lucia Meingossner, Dimitri Maroulis, (l-r front) Siobhan Hendrick, Joseph Cornacchia, and Julia Ryan participated in the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? video contest this past fall. The contest is sponsored by the Chester/Delaware County Manufacturing Alliance. Springton’s students were paired with Penn Machine Works, a forged pressure fitting manufacturer in Aston. The students spent a day last November touring the corporate headquarters and filming the manufacturing process as well as interviewing several employees.

In the weeks following their visit to Penn Machine Works, students combed through nearly 6 hours of video footage and created an informational video on manufacturing at Penn Machine Works. The Springton Lake students were awarded the distinction of Outstanding Video Editing during a ceremony held at Penn State Great Valley Conference Center in Malvern on Tuesday, March 6th.
