State Police Blotter: 2 Juveniles Take $500 Worth of Items from Stores

Here is a list of recent incidents in Middletown and Edgmont townships reported by the . Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to call police at 484-840-1000. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.
Theft— at at about 2:39 p.m. on March 19. A Broomall woman was arrested in connection with the theft of sunglasses valued at $9.99, according to State Police.
Retail Theft— and Boscov's at the Granite Run Mall at about 4:05 p.m. on March 15. Two juvenile, Glenolden females were arrested after concealing a total of $500 worth of merchandise from both stores, according to State Police. They were processed and released to their parents.

Harassment—Delaware County Alternative High School on March 15. A 17-year-old Chester woman attempted to punch a 17-year-old Upper Darby woman a number of times and threw several books at the Upper Darby woman in an attempt to hit her, according to State Police.
DUI—Route 1 at Station Road at about 9:50 p.m. on March 15. A Middletown Township man was stopped for traffic violations and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, according to State Police.

Retail Theft— at Granite Run Mall at about 3:11 p.m. on March 14. A 37-year-old Philadelphia man took three pairs of Nike sneakers and two pairs of Nike sweatpants and left the store without paying, according to State Police. Kohl's Loss Prevention confronted the man and detained him until police arrived, according to State Police. While the man was detained it was discovered he had also taken three Levi's T-shirts from Sears, according to State Police. The total amount of merchandise taken from both stores was $366, according to State Police.
ID Theft— on March 14. Unknown persons fraudulently filed a federal tax return utilizing the victim's name and social security number, according to State Police.
One-Car Crash—Route 1 near Media Bypass at about 7:25 a.m. on March 13. A 70-year-old man driving a Jeep Wrangler was driving too fast for conditions and lost control of the vehicle, according to State Police. The Jeep hit the roadway berm and overturned and came to a rest on its roof, according to State Police. The driver suffered minor injuries and the vehicle was towed from the scene, according to State Police.
DUI—Media Bypass at about 10:31 p.m. on March 9. Following a minor traffic crash it was concluded that the driver, a 54-year-old Aston man, was under the influence of alcohol and rendered him unfit to safely drive a vehicle, according to State Police. The man was arrested and charges will be filed.
Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition—Middletown Road in Edgmont Township between Feb. 10 and 28. Various records belonging to the business were unlawfully removed and an investigation is ongoing, according to State Police.
