State Police: Thief Attempts to Steal Tax Refund

Unknown persons conducted access device fraud by attempting to steal a tax refund from a Middletown resident, according to .
On March 19, an unknown person obtained the victim's personal information and used it to get the victim's tax refund, according to State Police.
The IRS contacted the victim to verify the information and it was discovered that it was not the victim who had filed the tax refund, according to State Police.

A stop was put on the tax refund process and the unknown person did not receive any money, according to State Police.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 484-840-1000.
