Teacher Spotlight: Erika Yepremian
This teacher comes to Rose Tree Media School District after spending seven years in the Upper Darby School District.

Teacher Spotlight is where we will feature a local teacher who deserves recognition. Teachers give a lot to their students, schools and studies and we'd like to recognize them and say a simple, thank you, for all that they do. As students get ready to go back to school we'd like you to meet one of Rose Tree Media School District's newest teachers.
RTMSD welcomes this ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher, who previously taught at Upper Darby elementary and high schools, to both and this year.

Grade/Subject: ESOL for grades first through fifth
Years in the industry: Seven years
Teaching History:
Yepremian started at Upper Darby High School in 2005 as an ESOL reading specialist, working with students from West African refugee camps. She then transferred to one of the elementary schools in Upper Darby as an ESOL teacher for three years.
Why did you become a teacher:
I always wanted to be a teacher because I saw so many kids insecure and not feeling confident in their school experience. I wanted kids to have a positive school experience, so this is what I wanted to do to help them get it.
What do you like most about your job:
I love teaching ESOL because I've loved learning about different cultures and parts of the world through the students' experiences. One of the best things about teaching ESOL especially is hearing a student's stories and trying to incorporate them into the classroom.
What do you hope your students get out of your classes:
I hope that they feel a sense of community in the classroom and at school. I also hope that they grow a positive self image and, in turn, know that they can achieve anything.
If you could change anything about education, what would it be:
I wish there was more time to work with students individually and learn more about their experiences.
What do you like best about your current school:
Being that this is my first year in the RTMSD, I am very excited to get to know my students, the staff members, and to support both teachers and students in the classroom.
