This Walden School middle school teacher has taught her entire career at the school. She had dreams of becoming a doctor but knew she could better help children by becoming a teacher.

Teaching History:
Kirkpatrick has taught at Walden her entire career. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University.
Why did you become a teacher:
I've always loved working with children. My ninth grade biology class demonstrated that my dreams of being a pediatrician weren't going to happen. So teaching seemed like the best alternative.
What do you like most about your job:
I like the excitement of devising new approaches to teaching and the interaction with the students, seeing their interest and views on subjects.
What do you hope your students get out of your classes:
An abiding interest in topics they will further explore on their own.
If you could change anything about education in general, what would it be:
In some way, an ability to gain more time.
What do you like best about your current school:
The unending support faculty and staff provide for one another.
