Viva la Media! Bastille Day Returns to State Street
For this month's 2nd Saturday arts celebration, Media will enjoy a little French flavor during its annual Bastille Day celebration.

Bastille Day—which is largely considered the most exciting 2nd Saturday arts event of the year is Saturday. The Media Arts Council celebrates this French holiday as a historic event symbolic of the freedom that paved the way for artistic expression (among other things).
Officially kicking off at 6 p.m. and lasting until 10:30 p.m., downtown Media will be transformed into a bustling, thriving scene from history; featuring professional theater presentations, art displays, live music, dancing, children’s activities, crafts, strolling performers and more.
State Street will be closed to traffic from around 5 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

More than 40 businesses are participating, including two honorary chairs from Sun Center Studios in Aston, Allen Lane and Gillaume Perrin. Philadelphia's French Consul, Michael Scullin, will also be attending for the first time.
The theatrical reenactment of the Storming of Bastille by the is the pinnacle event, but if you miss it, there's plenty more to experience.

The main stage will feature Louisiana band Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners. The will be showing two French films in honor of Bastille Day: Les Aventures de TinTin (a children's cartoon) at 2 p.m., and Au Revoir les Enfants at 7:30 p.m.
