“Winnie’s Winners” team raises $5,500​ for Ronald McDonald House

Residents, staff, and friends from Maris Grove, an Erickson Living retirement community in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, won first place for fundraising at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware’s 29th Annual 5K Run/Walk at Frawley Stadium. “Winnie’s Winners,” named after resident and group organizer Winnie Meyer, raised $5,500 for the local charity.

The team also received second place for most walkers with a total of 57 participants, including 23 high school students who work part-time in Maris Grove’s restaurants, 21 staff and residents, and 13 friends.

“I am so pleased to be a resident of Maris Grove and overjoyed to know we make a difference to those whom we touch at the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware,” said Meyer.

Meyer has organized a team annually for more than 10 years. She also volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House along with other Maris Grove resident volunteers. Additionally, Meyer is very active on campus volunteering for the Philanthropy Department and organizing a Shuffleboard League.

“I am so proud of Winnie and her team of residents and staff,” said Executive Director Maureen Heckler. “They are making such a difference in the lives of so many people through their volunteer work and fundraising efforts.”

Winnie’s Winners team members will celebrate their victory on May 18 with an Ice Cream Social on campus, compliments of the Ronald McDonald House.
