Around the Rivers: Dan Marino's Coal Fired Pizza Restaurant to Open in Peters Township
The first Anthony's opened in Robinson Township in 2011. Marino plans to visit the McMurray restaurant, the third and latest location, on Thursday, Aug. 29.

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza, the Florida-based concept that uses coal-burning ovens to create "well-done" pizza, will open its third Pittsburgh-area restaurant on Monday, Aug. 26.Β The restaurant will beΒ locatedΒ at 102 McDowell Ln.Β in Peters Township (at a former Damon's Grill).
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza includes Pittsburgh sportsΒ legend Dan Marino among several equity partners, and itΒ debuted in Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 2002, since expanding to 39 restaurants in the eastern United States.

Marino plans to visit the Peters restaurant on Thursday, Aug. 29, according to a news release.
The first two Pittsburgh-area Anthony's opened in Robinson Township in 2011 and inΒ Monroeville in 2012. A fourth isΒ expected to open in Cranberry Township in 2014.

"I'm overwhelmed by the support my hometown has given our restaurants," said Marino, a Pro and College FootballΒ Hall of Famer who graduated fromΒ Central Catholic High SchoolΒ and theΒ University of Pittsburgh, in theΒ release. "My partners and I knew Pittsburgh would be a great Anthony's city, and I am so proud of our success here."
In addition to pizzas, the restaurant's menu features coal-oven-roasted chicken wings with caramelized onions; pork ribs with vinegar peppers; home-style meatballs made from a family recipe; and Eggplant Marino, among other foods.
Hours of operation for the PetersΒ location will beΒ 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. SundaysΒ throughΒ ThursdaysΒ and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays andΒ Saturdays.
