Bites Near Us: Harold's Inn

Patch stops by this Brodhead Road eatery for its legendary chicken dishes.

Harold’s Inn in Hopewell Township has been around for more than 50 years. The casual eatery on Brodhead Road has a friendly staff and wallet-friendly prices.

The restaurant features a bar and two spacious dining rooms. It's is a family-friendly kind of place: The children will be entertained watching the grill chef in action inside of the glass-enclosed grill pit.

Harold’s is famous for its mountain-style chicken and taters. The fresh, whole chicken wings and crispy potatoes are seasoned to perfection with Harold’s special dry seasoning. The jumbo wings come in a half basket for $6.99 and a full basket for $12.99, and wingettes also are available. The chicken and taters dinner, which includes a three-piece rib, leg and thigh, is served with coleslaw for $11.50.

Don't worry if you're not in the mood for chicken. Other dinner choices include mesquite-grilled steaks, seafood dinners (including scrod, lobster and salmon), sandwiches, burgers and pasta.

Harold's Inn has a fireplace for patrons to cozy up to in the colder months, and with summer nearing, the restaurant’s outdoor patio is being put to good use.

Harold's has outdoor entertainment from 9 p.m. until midnight on Saturday nights for customers 21 and older.

This weekend, Harold’s is serving up Memorial Day Weekend specials. Features include a grilled portabella appetizer; pulled-pork salad; all-American barbecue platter; holiday farfalle with shrimp; red, white and bleu burger; and for dessert, a slice of red, white and blue cheesecake.

The restaurant also offers daily food and drink specials. Harold’s Inn is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
