Cluck, Cluck: Take a Tour of Sewickley's Chicken Coops
A dozen sites are on the annual Sewick's Chicks tour.
As the backyard chicken movement grows, so does the interest in coops, breeds and eggs.
The public will have a chance to get a closer look on Sunday, Sept. 8 when the third annual Sewick's Chicks tour returns to the Sewickley Valley.
The event runs from from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features a dozen sites on the tour.

Coops are located in Sewickley, Sewickley Heights and Edgeworth, where owners will be available to answer questions and talk about their birds.
The event is co-sponsored by The Italian Garden Project and Fern Hollow Nature Center with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Sewickley Community Center Food Bank.

Much like backyard chicken keeping, the annual tour has increased in popularity.
Organizers previously estimated about 20 people attended the first year. Last year, about 80 adults and children attended. It's a safe bet there will be more flocking to attend this year.

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8
Where: 12 sites in Sewickley, Sewickley Heights and Edgeworth
Tickets: On sale in advance at Penguin Bookshop, 420 Beaver St., Sewickley. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the day of the tour.
Cost: $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
