Consumer Alert Issued For Suburban Pittsburgh Restaurant

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the China Max at the Mall at Robinson.

Among the many health code violations found during a Nov. 29 inspection:

• The restaurant is not sanitizing dishes. Employees were observed rinsing dishes without sanitizing them.

• Restaurant workers were touching vegetables with their bare hands.

• The thermometer to ensure food is being served at the proper temperature isn't being used, as evidenced by the dust accumulation.

• Burnt rice pieces were found stuck on the inside of the rice cooker inserts and there was grease accumulation on the outside of the cooker.

• Cooked steamed and fried rice in both rice cookers were found to be contaminated by chipping and peeling non-stick coating.

• A mold-like substance was found on several insert pans in the prep cooler.

• Shelves above the sink where clean dishes are being placed were soiled with old grease.

• The chicken tumbler and meat grinder both had old food debris accumulation.

• Soiled rags were in use on the prep tables.

• A slime accumulation was found in the food prep sink.

• The restaurant was reusing reusing raw chicken boxes to store broccoli.

The restaurant remains open while the consumer alert is in effect.
