TheΒ Old Moon Township Historical SocietyΒ met Monday, June 3 at the Coventry Log Cabin in Robin Hill ParkΒ for a program on frontier life.Β
Martie and Dale Main,Β re-enactors at the Oliver Miller Homestead in South Park,Β presented aΒ program on frontier life, where theyΒ discussedΒ history,Β demonstrated cooking and gave other highlights ofΒ pioneer life in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Martie describes herself asΒ "a full-fledged kitchen wench,β who isΒ constantly pursuing old recipes, experimenting and learning. You can find her cooking outdoors most Sunday afternoons either at the bake oven or the fire pitΒ at the Oliver MillerΒ Homestead.
Shortly after moving to Robinson,Β Dale, whoΒ worked for Bayer in computer software and security, noticed a street named Tidball and soon found a family of the same nameΒ who confirmed he was related to them. The family recommended he visitΒ theΒ Oliver Miller Homestead, where he traced hisΒ ancestry back to 1714. He nowΒ re-enacts the role ofΒ his five times great-grandfather, William Tidball, at the homestead.Β Β
