MCA-TV to Launch New Government Access Television Station

A sister station, Moon Area Government Television, will go on the air in early August and will be devoted to local government programming.

 will launch a sister site in early August that will devote all of its programming to local government.  This will free up space for the current station, MCA-TV, to focus on community-produced programs.

The new station, Moon Area Government Television (MAG-TV), will begin programming at 7 p.m. on Aug. 3, providing live coverage of the regular meeting.

In order to ensure a smooth transition for viewers, the Aug. 3 meeting will air on both MAG-TV and MCA-TV.

All of the public meetings aired on MCA-TV will air on MAG-TV beginning Aug. 3, including and   MAG-TV will air on Comcast channel 18 and Verizon Fios channel 37. 

This fall, MAG-TV will air educational programs whose focus is on the functions of local and state governments.

“We see this as a positive change,” said Moon Community Access Television’s Communications Director, Meghan McNamara.  “Now that local government will have its own station, there are tons of opportunities for community members to get involved with local programming.”

Volunteers at Moon Community Access Television have already started brainstorming for new programming. McNamara said she hopes community members will take advantage of the opportunity to get involved as well.

Moon Township community members who are interested in producing a local program may enroll in a series of workshops that cover the basics of studio television production.

“This series of workshops covers audio, directing and graphics that go into each television program,” said McNamara.  “They’re really hands-on and a great way to learn about local television production, especially for those who want to get involved.
