  • Louie L. Piccolo, 71, died Oct. 5 at Heritage Valley Sewickley. Born in February 1940, the 41-year Coraopolis resident was born in West Virginia and was married to Virginia Nolfi Piccolo. He was a father of two and grandfather of three. He was retired from , where he worked for more than 20 years. Piccolo was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Coraopolis and hadΒ worked for the Dravo Corporation and American Bridge. VisitationΒ will beΒ from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday andΒ 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Copelands in Coraopolis. Funeral andΒ burial services will beΒ Monday at St. Joseph Church.
  • Robert S. Schafers, 84, died Oct. 5 at Ohio Valley Hospital. Born in August 1927, the Kennedy Township resident was married for 38 years toΒ Irene Bosetti Schafers and previously married to the late Anne Mae Schafers. He was a father of six and grandfather of three. He retired from Alcosanafter 28 years of service andΒ served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m.Β today andΒ 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Copeland's in Coraopolis. Funeral services will beΒ Saturday at St. Malachy Church in Kennedy Township. The family suggests donationsΒ be made to the McKees Rocks-based Partners for Quality organization in lieu of flowers.
  • Carol Joan Shaffer Young, 64, diedΒ Oct. 5 at her residence. Born in April 1947, Young was a resident of Emsworth and Glenfield. She was married for 41 years to the late William Young and was a mother of four. Shaffer was a 1965 graduate of Hopewell High School andΒ a registered nurse since 1990. Her hobbies included knitting, crossword puzzles and reading. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Copeland's in Coraopolis. A private burial will follow.
