Moon Supervisors Approve Payment Agreement from Robert Morris
The university is scheduled to make its first payment on Sept. 30.

Robert Morris University is scheduled to pay Moon Township $100,000 later this month, theΒ first of threeΒ payments toward the equivalent of 10 years worth of taxes, or $230,000.
According to the Times, Moon Supervisors voted Wednesday to approve a plan for Robert Morris to make payments ofΒ $100,000 on Sept. 30, another $100,000 inΒ 2014 and $30,000 inΒ 2015.
Robert Morris officials offered the contribution in JulyΒ during a zoning and conditional useΒ hearingΒ for the formerΒ hotel property, nowΒ Yorktown Hall dormitory. The university purchased the 10-story hotel for $10 millionΒ in 2011.Because the university isΒ tax exempt, Robert Morris volunteered to give MoonΒ a $230,000 contribution to make up for lost tax revenue.Β

Both sides came to an agreement the funds will be used for traffic upgrades at the University Boulevard and Campus Drive intersection. Robert MorrisΒ will also pay for a traffic study at the universityβs main entrance.
As part of a previous agreement, the university has also agreed to payΒ Moon Area School District $1 million over 10 years.
