New Mexico Head Coach and Moon Native Coming Home for Pitt Game

University of New Mexico football coach Bob Davie is looking forward to returning to Western Pennsylvania this weekend when his team takes on the University of Pittsburgh.

Davie told KOB-TV in New Mexico that this will be the fourth time he has played as head coach against Pitt, where his coaching career started.  Davie was a graduate assistant with the Panthers in 1977. 

Bob Davie grew up in Moon Township, a Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia fan. He graduated in 1972 from Moon Area High School and later from Youngstown State University, where he spent three seasons as a starting tight end. He is a former head coach at Notre Dame.

His family still lives in this area. In fact, Davie told KOB-TV he's expecting them at the game Saturday at Heinz Field. The non-conference game with New Mexico will kick off at 12:30 p.m.

"My dad needs 10 tickets," Davie told the news station.  "There's a lot of cousins and relatives back there."
