North Fayette Man Sentenced to Prison for Improper Use of UPMC Credit Card

Senior U.S. District Judge Maurice B. Cohill sentenced Timothy L. Mangis, 49, of Moosehead Drive to 14 months incarceration and three years supervised release on his conviction of wire fraud.

Mangis was the former facilities director at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, when he used a UPMC credit card to buy merchandise for himself, including auto repair services for his car, building materials and appliances, and electronic equipment at retailers such as Pep Boys, Lowe's, Home Depot and Best Buy.

Unauthorized use of the purchasing card, or P-card, exceeded $70,000 as determined by the government. 

The U.S. Secret Service conducted the investigation that led to his prosecution. Mangis could have received up to 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
