QBE First Lays Off Employees in Moon Township
The company eliminated local jobs last month due to marketing conditions.

A Moon Township-based insurance company recently eliminated positions with the layoffs of 26 employees.Β
Paula Symons, spokeswoman forΒ QBE North America, said in an email statement that "due to market conditions,"Β 26Β positions were eliminated on July 18 atΒ QBEβs Moon Township operation.Β
"Eliminating any positions is an extremely difficult decision, whichΒ QBEΒ takes very seriously," Symons said.Β

Employees were offered severance and outplacement packages to make the transition as smooth as possible, she said.
Symons said QBEΒ remains committed to the Moon facility, locatedΒ off Business I-376 in the Airside Business Park.

AboutΒ 320 QBE FirstΒ employees remain at the Moon-based company.
QBE FirstΒ provides hazard and flood insurance as well as other services for lenders, mortgage-servicing organizations and home builders.
