A Salute to Summer

The Mall at Robinson will host a Salute to Summer on Saturday, July 11, from 5-9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

There are more than 500,000 active, reserve, retired or veteran military service members within 75 miles of the city. To bring together local veterans organizations, local businesses and the local bases, The Mall at Robinson is hosting A Salute to Summer July 11 from 5-9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

A Salute to Summer community day was created as part of the Air Force Community Partnership Program to foster mutually supportive partnerships with the civilian and business communities and all branches of the military in Pittsburgh. The goal of the event is to honor our military heroes and their families and educate the community about the contributions local military bases in Pittsburgh make to the nation’s defense.

A Salute to Summer will feature live music, several military displays from the 911th Airlift Wing, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and Air National Guard, discounts, a prize raffle, a climbing wall, an Elvis impersonator and fun activities for kids including a video game truck, bouncers and more.

The prize raffle will benefit Heroes Supporting Heroes, a Pittsburgh-area nonprofit that works to support stable and safe housing for military members, their families and others in need (a 501c3 organization). The organization is comprised of volunteers including active, reserve, retired, veteran military members and civilians, who assist families of deployed service members, disabled veterans, and senior citizens with various projects such as repair and maintenance of their homes and properties.
