The Great Escape: Dinner at Non-Kid Friendly Eatery
Patch parenting columnist Shana Hudson talks about spending a night with friends at a great restaurant.

For me and my girlfriends -- a group of fellow moms -- sitting down to a nice hot meal, prepared by someone else, is the ultimate great escape.Â
You'll have a moment to slowly savor the aromas of the dish, while relishing the atmosphere and conversation -- it's not a luxury that many of us have the chance to frequently enjoy.Â
Picking the place was the easy part -- we were going to go to a restaurant that was decidedly non-kid friendly. We were going to order an appetizer, talk without being interrupted, order our dinner, and talk without being interrupted. Then we would refill our drinks, talk without being interrupted and, oh, did I mention, there would be no kids to interrupt the conversation?

The evening turned out to be one of the most refreshing, reinvigorating and relaxing experiences my friends and I had in a while. And though it was great to spend a night on the town, the best part was coming home.
Coming through the front door after a few hours away makes the sound of your children's excited chatter seem that much sweeter. You feel clarified and renewed.Â

Mothers deserve a hot dinner from time to time. And most importantly, the family needs a mom who is renewed both emotionally and physically. The next time you find yourself with the chance to take an outing without the kids and husband in tow, take it! You won't regret a single bite.Â
