YMCA AND OHIO VALLEY HOSPITAL OFFER PROGRAM TO HELP REVERSE RISK OF DEVELOPING TYPE 2 DIABETES

YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program comes to Ohio Valley Hospital

The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and Ohio Valley Hospital are inviting anyone who may be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes to join the YMCA Diabetes Prevention program.

The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is a lifestyle intervention program that helps people at risk for developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk by adopting healthy habits to increase physical activity and lose a modest amount of weight.

The 12-month program begins with 19 weekly core sessions, followed by 6 monthly maintenance sessions. Based on a study by the National Institutes of Health, the program reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58%.
