Two men are charged with stealing $200 from a 17-year-old boy Thursday night and threatening to shoot the teen, who intended to buy pot, Nazareth police said.
Carnell R. Long, 20, of the 100 block of Farmview Road, Upper Nazareth Township, and Kory Kirchhofer, 18, of the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue, Nazareth, were arraigned before a district judge. Bail was set at $25,000 each, according to online court records.
Both were charged with aggravated assault, robbery and disorderly conduct.
Kirchhofer also was charged with a second robbery count, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a weapon and terroristic threats. Long is also charged with simple assault, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.
According to the arrest affidavits:
- The teen was walking in the area of N. Green and Park streets at 8:48 p.m. and had $200 to buy pot. He gave the money to Long, who said he would be back with the pot.
- Kirchhofer, however, pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him. The teen took off.
- The teen gave police a description of the men, as well as the name and phone number of one of them.
- Police found the men in the basement of Kirchhofer's residence. They recovered $50 in the couch in the area where Long was lying.
- Kirchhofer told police where to find the gun, which police then located under a pile of leaves by a garage.
- At the police station, emergency personnel came to evaluate Long, who police said was having seizures due to the drugs he had taken. He was taken to Easton Hospital for an evaluation and later released to Nazareth police.
- Kirchhofer told police that he and Long planned to rob the teen of the $200 and beat him.
