Some facts behind the major plastics recycling plant that burned Tuesday.

Nicos Polymers was in the news for emerging from bankruptcy and being sold before a massive fire destroyed the Plainfield Township plastics plant Tuesday.
The plant was set to close as Coll Materials, an Ohio company in the process of buying Nicos, would move operations to . Coll will continue with that plan, according to this report.

1. Nicos opened its Plainfield Township plant near Nazareth in 2001; prior to that it was in the Palmer Industrial Park in Palmer Township, and before that, West Babylon, N.Y.
2. Nicos Polymers recycled mostly post-industrial materials at its 180,000-square-foot plant.

3. Nicos was the 20th-largest recycler in North America, according to Plastics News rankings.
4. The company has about 70 employees, who are scheduled to transfer to the South Whitehall facility.
