Action Karate offers FREE anti-bullying training for kids
September 27th 1pm-4pm free event for kids!

Nazareth based Action Karate will take on the serious challenge of bullying when it hosts a free anti-bullying event for kids and teens from the area, Saturday, September 27th. Cyber-bullying expert, Agent Janene Holter, a representative of the Pennsylvania Attorney Generalβs office specializing in cyber safety will lead a team of instructors in this fun, educational and interactive series of workshops.
Dedicated to providing instruction in self-defense and character development, Action Karate is hosting this event as part of its comprehensive effort to give children healthy ways of dealing with bullies. In a 2014 study, 83% of girls, and 79% of boys reported being bullied either in school or online. Seth Bittner, co-owner and head instructor of Action Karate explained, βWe are excited to be able to provide an opportunity for children to learn about something that is so prevalent in todayβs society: bullying. Action Karate is dedicated to giving back to the community and we feel that this is something that all children should be educated on.β
The workshop series will be broken into groups according to age: 5-7, 8-10, 11 and up. The younger groups will take part in discussions and role-playing activities. The 11+ group will focus on cyber bullying, which in a recent poll has been experienced by 52% of young people. All groups will work on appropriate basic physical skills for self-defense and leave with an increased confidence in standing up to bullies. Workshops will be led by instructors from Action Karate, as well as Agent Holter, an expert in cyber safety.
