Hungry Swallowtail Butterfly Aims for 'Poppies'

The other day I put a few kitchen rugs out in the grass to dry. One had red apples on it, and the other had red poppies on it. While I was doing other yard work, I kept seeing this big black butterfly landing on the red flowers, over and over. I went into my house, grabbed my camera and got up close. He even tried to land on my pink flip flops! He must have spent about 30 minutes trying to get nectar out of the "flowers" before he gave up and flew away! He seemed totally oblivious to me and my camera, so I got several really good shots of him in action.
