Identification Cards Prevent Voter Fraud in Pennsylvania

There is major debate surrounding voter identification cards in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but they are needed to prohibit voter fraud.

I find it amazing that there is opposition to the idea thatΒ citizens show an identification card when they vote, a procedure that occurs twice a year.

Considering that we are now a nation that puts our business and personal information out there on a daily basis still has me asking: What is the big deal that states require an ID card in order to vote?

Let's take a look at where we have information now. A few weeks ago I took a continuing education class so I could renew my real estate license for the next two years. The class was about all of the social media websites we can use to call atttention toΒ ourselves and our business.

I never thought I would find myself on Facebook. Not only do I have a social page because my grandkids like to communicate that way, I now have a Lehigh Valley Real Estate by Chris Miller Realtor pageΒ so I can discuss real estate and have another place to display my listings. On top of that, I am on my company's website and I have my own web page. Hard to believe that I am doing this.

We are told that we have approximately 12 million illegal aliens in our nation. The majority are here to find a job so they can feed their kids. I believe the majority of these folks are good people but there are, without a doubt, bad people among them. These are the folks who are willing to commit voter fraud for money.

Voter fraud is nothing new to this nation. Yes, there is truth to the fact that dead people do vote. How do we resolve this problem? I believe an ID card, something that should be decided by the individual states and commonwealths, is necessary in this Commonwealth.

All registered voters have a registration card from their respective county. There's just two problems: These cards do not have a picture on them and most are probably lost or have been tossed away because the ink has faded.

We do have pictures on our driver's licenses. We do have voters who do not drive, but one can get an ID card at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for a small fee.

In closing, I have one question: Why would anyone oppose an ID card for voting given that voter fraud is not a little crime?Β I realize that many of you will see this as a slippery slope for a national ID, and I would agree with you on that issue. Only then would you find me on your side.
