Easton Youth Chorus Holds Auditions Aug 27-Sept 9
New Children’s Chorus for Girls & Boys with Unchanged Voices in Grades 2-8
Auditions are being held for The Easton Youth Chorus, a new children’s chorus for girls & boys with unchanged voices in grades 2-8. Auditions are scheduled on 8/27 (6-8pm), 9/3 (6-8pm), 9/7 (1-4pm) & 9/9 (6-8pm) at the Forks Township Community Center, 500 Zucksville Road in Easton, PA. Parents and students are encouraged to schedule an audition in advance via e-mail at EastonYouthChorus@aol.com.
Led by a spirited director who has worked with children’s choruses at the national level, the EYC is designed to unite the children of greater Easton through song. The EYC will be committed to a high level of music-making, focusing on sacred and secular music, as well as world music of all cultures. Public performances will take place throughout the year.
“I’m very pleased to offer such a unique and exciting program that unites the children of greater Easton and celebrates the rich, cultural diversity of our community,” said Kelley R. Atwood, EYC’s conductor and Artistic Director. “This will be a very positive outlet for the children of Easton to grow as young musicians, build self-esteem, earn new friendships and learn about the world around them through music. These young people will also be giving back to the community through our performances at local events and for local organizations.”

Following a successful audition, EYC registration is $150 per semester, or $270 if paid in advance (until September 15) for the full season. Scholarships are available for qualified applicants. Rehearsals will be held Tuesday evenings at the Forks Township Community Center from 7-8:30 PM, beginning September 16.
