The Annual Vera Cruz Homecoming, sponsored by the Vera Cruz Community Association and held rain or shine, will feature a special celebration this year on Sunday, August 21 in honor of the 60th Anniversary of the Homecoming event.
The Homecoming, which is Vera Cruzβs version of a community block party, is open to everyone (residents and non-residents of Vera Cruz). The event is held at Mystic Chain Park on Main Road East in Vera Cruz from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Classic Cars will be on display at the event by Mopar Madness of the Lehigh Valleyβbenefitting Dream Come True.
In terms of musical entertainment, CrazyHeart, one of the most popular country bands in the Lehigh Valley, will take the stage from 5-9 p.m.Β Also, Schoolβs Out, which combines doo-wop, rock and roll-funk, Motown, R&B and todayβs pop hits, will take the stage from 12-3 p.m.
Fans of local television personality βUncle Jeffreyβ will also want to stop by the Vera Cruz Homecoming. Jeff Tapler, known to most as βUncle Jeffreyβ, will broadcast his weekly Health and Happiness show live from the Homecoming from 3-5 p.m.
The dayβs events begin with a Community Homecoming Service at the Vera Cruz E.C. Church at 9:30 a.m. led by the churchβs pastor, the Rev. Robert Klersy.
The day will be filled with games and entertainment, cakewalks and a raffle drawing. The food menu features homemade baked beans, old-fashioned turkey bar-b-q, sausage sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers, French fries, pierogies, ice cream, funnel cake and fresh fruit cups.
