VERA CRUZ HOMECOMING: 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION WITH CLASSIC CAR SHOW

The Annual Vera Cruz Homecoming, sponsored by the Vera Cruz Community Association and held rain or shine, will feature a special celebration this year on Sunday, August 21 in honor of the 60th Anniversary of the Homecoming event.

The Homecoming, which is Vera Cruz’s version of a community block party, is open to everyone (residents and non-residents of Vera Cruz). The event is held at Mystic Chain Park on Main Road East in Vera Cruz from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Classic Cars will be on display at the event by Mopar Madness of the Lehigh Valleyβ€”benefitting Dream Come True.

In terms of musical entertainment, CrazyHeart, one of the most popular country bands in the Lehigh Valley, will take the stage from 5-9 p.m.Β  Also, School’s Out, which combines doo-wop, rock and roll-funk, Motown, R&B and today’s pop hits, will take the stage from 12-3 p.m.

Fans of local television personality β€œUncle Jeffrey” will also want to stop by the Vera Cruz Homecoming. Jeff Tapler, known to most as β€œUncle Jeffrey”, will broadcast his weekly Health and Happiness show live from the Homecoming from 3-5 p.m.

The day’s events begin with a Community Homecoming Service at the Vera Cruz E.C. Church at 9:30 a.m. led by the church’s pastor, the Rev. Robert Klersy.

The day will be filled with games and entertainment, cakewalks and a raffle drawing. The food menu features homemade baked beans, old-fashioned turkey bar-b-q, sausage sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers, French fries, pierogies, ice cream, funnel cake and fresh fruit cups.
