Big kids can learn how to be lifeguards while little kids celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

For this week's Grab & Go Kids Planner, the Nazareth YMCA will offer lifeguard training courses, the Nazareth Center for the Arts will host Irish Step Dancers, and the Cat in the Hat will be celebrated at the Crayola Factory:

 

1. Dream Kids, O'Grady Quinlan Academy of Irish Dance and Andy Weaver
Where/When:
Nazareth Center for the Arts, Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why go: Andy Weaver of Nazareth, a Dream Come True recipient, will be honored. The show will feature dancers from the O'Grady Quinlan Academy of Irish Dance.
Price: Free admission with $10 suggested donation

2. Lifeguard Training
Where/When: Nazareth YMCA, March 5, 6, 12 and 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go: Learn lifeguarding techniques, CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, AED training, oxygen administration and more.
Prerequisites: Participants must be 15 years of age and be able to perform a shallow entry and swim 300 yards. Participants must also be able to swim 25 feet with a weighted object.
Price: $195 for members, $215 for non-members

3. Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast
Where/When:
, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Why go: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with story time and a colorful, warm breakfast buffet with the Cat in the Hat. The Crayola Pip-Squeak Marker and Crayola Crayon Tip characters will be on hand for pictures and to dance to lively music with everyone.
Price: $20.00 per person and all attendees will receive discounted admission to The Crayola Factory.

4. Chicken and Waffle Dinner Fundraiser
Where/When: Hope United Church of Christ, 701 Cherry Street, Wind Gap; Saturday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy a delicious meal while supporting a local church
Price: $8 for adults, $5 for children 12 to 5 years old, free for children under five
