Lower Nazareth May Face Fight in Renaming Selvaggio Drive

Attorney for Selvaggio Enterprises Inc. says the company may try to stop Lower Nazareth Township from changing Selvaggio Drive to Municipal Drive.

The July 11 decision by to to Municipal Drive, pending approval from the U.S. Postal Service, was news to Selvaggio Enterprises Inc., according to attorney Stanley Margle III.

Margle claims the township did not notify Stephen and Teresa Selvaggio about the proposed name change prior to the July 11 meeting.

The Selvaggios' attorney admits he doesn’t know if they have legal recourse to stop the township from moving forward.

“If we can fight it, we will,” Margle said. “We’re exploring all legal avenues and expect to come to a conclusion in the next several days.”

Back in January,  -- a 35,000-square-foot property on 2.8 acres  -- for $1.45 million.

The property, which had been owned by , was foreclosed on in July 2010. 

According to a report in The Morning Call, a series of six lawsuits was filed in February to evict Stephen and Teresa Selvaggio, Selvaggio Enterprises Inc., Selvaggio Plumbing and Heating, Selvaggio Excavating Inc., Selvaggio and Sons Plumbing and Heating, and Newburg Plumbing Supply Inc.

The eviction suit went forward after a month had passed without a meeting with Stephen and Teresa Selvaggio, according to the report.

The address, to be renamed 623 Municipal Drive, is slated be the new home for the township municipal building that would include municipal offices and, possibly, a public works office, a community center and a park.

Township Manager Timm Tenges was not immediately available for comment.
