Nazareth Adopts Other School Budgets
Northampton Community College, Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 and athletic fund budgets all signed off on by Nazareth Area School Board Monday night.

In addition to approving the final 2013-2014 budget Monday night, Nazareth Area School Board took other actions on other budgets:
- The board approved Northampton Community Collegeβs total consolidated operating budget of $70.40 million for 2013-2014. Nazarethβs share of the budget will be about $607,396 β an approximate increase of 1.80 percent, or $10,363.
NCCβs total budget is $1.55 million higherβor 2.27 percentβthat this yearβs budget. Also, the 2013-2014 total operating budget in the educational and supportive area where school districts participate came in at $54.44 millionβa $1.30 million increase, or 2.45 percent.
NCCβs capital budget, meanwhile, proposes spending $13.10 millionβa $150,442 increase.
- The board also approved the $3.01 million general operating budget for Colonial Intermediate Unit 20. Nazarethβs contribution is $33,362.88βan increase of less than 2 percent, according to district business administrator Bernadine Rishcoff.
Superintendent Dennis Riker pointed out that Nazarethβs share does not include the costs of IU-related programs at Nazareth schools.

- The board also adopted the Nazareth districtβs $1.10 million athletic fund budget for the upcoming school year.
That amount represents no change for the third-straight year, Riker said. The board also approved fund transfers throughout the year from the general fund to the athletic fund. That amount is $931,200.
