The Freddy Awards: Why Nazareth Chooses Not to Participate

The Freddy Awards recognize excellence in local high school musical theater.

As I write this, many of my fellow colleagues are live tweeting as the winners are announced for "Outstanding Performance by an Orchestra," "Outstanding Use of Costuming," etc.  A whole lot more will be announced as the ceremony continues.

But for Nazareth Area High School students, they are not on the edge of their seats at The State Theater Center for the Arts in Easton, waiting and hoping for their names to be called.

This isn't because they didn't put on a good enough show, but because the students made a choice.  They voted and the majority said they wished to not participate.
