Man Peeing at Walmart Had Flare & Stun Guns, Police Say

Police spotted a Monroe County man urinating on the parking lot of Walmart in Lower Nazareth Township and discovered he had a stun gun and a flare gun.

The gun problem for the suspect, Robert James Forgione, 45, of Canadensis is that he’s not allowed to have guns because of previous burglary convictions in New York, court records say.

The case, handled by Colonial Regional Police, began about 9:40 Sunday night when Officer Andy Laudenslager said he saw Forgione urinating on the parking lot of Walmart in the Northampton Crossings shopping center at Routes 33 and 248.

Laudenslager writes in a criminal complaint he then saw a blue metal smoking device with marijuana residue on the center console of Forgione’s vehicle—a blue 2009 Nissan Titan PU, a pickup. He also smelled marijuana inside the truck.

While the officer took Forgione into custody, he admitted to having a stun gun and an Orion flare gun, according to records. The flare gun was loaded with a cartridge designed to fire a projectile.

A records check found that Forgione was convicted on felony burglary charges on two occasions—in October 1987 in Suffolk County, N.Y., and April 1988 in Nassau, N.Y.

Forgione, whose address in Canadensis is 412 Lower Seese Hill Road, was charged with persons not to possess firearms, firearms not to be carried without a license, prohibited offensive weapons, use or possession of electric or electronic incapacitation device, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct.

He was arraigned at 1:30 a.m. Monday by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke of Lehigh Township and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
