Painting Of George Washington Taken From New Hope Restaurant

Police say a man in his 70s walked out of a restaurant on Ferry Street with a painting of the nation's first president.

NEW HOPE BOROUGH, PA — The New Hope Borough Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the Salt House, located at 7 East Ferry Street.

New Hope Borough Police said at 1:17 p.m., a man entered the restaurant, removed a painting of George Washington from the wall, and walked out with the painting in his hand.

The man left in a white Toyota SUV with New Jersey registration plates, possibly beginning with C95.

After posting photos of the suspect, police were able to identify the man in the photos. Police have released no additional details regarding the man and whether he was charged.
