NEW HOPE, PA — The riverfront town of New Hope will be transported to a place "far, far away" this weekend during a four-day Star Wars-inspired May the 4th celebration.

Organized by the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce, a record-breaking 60 businesses, restaurants, bars and other locations will be taking part in the event this year, which runs from May 1 to 4.

Visitors can move from one storefront to the next, discovering themed cocktails, specialty menus, retail promotions and interactive moments throughout New Hope.

Each business will be bringing its own interpretation, creating an experience that feels organic, creative, and constantly evolving, organizers say.

A highlight of the weekend will take place on Sunday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when members of the 501st Legion (Garrison Carida) will be "storming" the town. Known for their highly detailed, volunteer-based costumes, the group will add a visual element that will bring the streets to life and give visitors a chance to interact and take photos.

“This is one of those weekends that shows exactly what New Hope does best,” said Michael Sklar, president of the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce. “It’s creative, it’s artsy, and with 60 small businesses putting their own spin on it, the entire town becomes an experience. It brings people in, supports the local community, shows off our artsy town and gives visitors something they can’t find anywhere else.”

Stormtroopers will be invading New Hope over the weekend.

The weekend is driven almost entirely by small, independently owned businesses. From restaurants and bars to boutiques, galleries, and specialty shops, each stop offers something different, encouraging visitors to explore deeper into town rather than staying in one place, said Sklar.

Guests can expect a wide range of themed offerings throughout the weekend, including food and drink specials, retail promotions, giveaways, and interactive experiences designed to engage both visitors and locals.

Participating businesses span nearly every category in New Hope and beyond, reinforcing the scale and diversity of the event.
