SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — The river is beautiful, but it can also be unforgiving, especially during high heat when more people are boating, kayaking, swimming, tubing, and enjoying the water, says the Solebury Township Police Department.
Cold water, strong currents, submerged rocks, and changing conditions can create serious hazards, said police.
Wear a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket (PFD) at all times when on the water, whether boating, kayaking, canoeing, or floating in a tube.
Children under 12 must wear a life jacket while underway on any vessel. Even strong swimmers should wear a life jacket. Fatigue, cold water shock, and sudden currents can overwhelm anyone.
Inflatable tubes and rafts are not substitutes for life jackets. Always wear one when using them.
Additional Water Safety Tips:
Solebury Township Police officers will be out in the community and monitoring river areas.
