NEW HOPE, PA— Every summer, thousands of visitors walk, bike, paddle, fish, and explore the Delaware Canal, one of Pennsylvania's National Historic Landmarks.
On July 18, the Friends of the Delaware Canal (FODC) is inviting the community to a summer fundraiser called "Chillin’ with Friends," designed to ensure that the historic waterway continues to be a summer adventure for generations to come.
Being held on Saturday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boo’s Brewing Company, located at 4961 River Road in Point Pleasant, tickets include two craft beers (or a drink of your choice), live music, local history, a tour of the brewery and giving back with $30 of every ticket directly benefiting the FODC.
"Summer is the perfect time to experience everything the Delaware Canal has to offer," said Michael Ginder, Executive Director of the Friends of the Delaware Canal. "Whether you've spent years walking the towpath or are discovering the canal for the first time, this event is a chance to enjoy a memorable evening while helping preserve a place that connects our communities, our history, and our natural landscape."

The evening begins at 6 p.m., with a welcome presentation at 6:30 p.m. highlighting the Delaware Canal, the history of Point Pleasant, and the story behind Boo's Brewing Company, housed in a beautifully restored historic firehouse. The Big Chill, a Philadelphia-area classic rock band, performs begins at 7:30 p.m.
Guests will also have the opportunity to sample Locktender's Lager, a signature brew created by Boo's Brewing Company in honor of the Friends of the Delaware Canal's historic Locktender's House in New Hope. The locally inspired beer celebrates the canal's heritage while raising awareness of the organization's preservation efforts.
The Delaware Canal attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to hike, bike, paddle, fish, and explore its scenic beauty and rich history. FODC, alongside volunteers, members, and community partners, works hard all year to protect the nearly 60 mile canal and it’s rich heritage for future generations.
Tickets are $75 per person and include food, two drinks, and an optional brewery tour. Complimentary parking is available at Boo's Brewing Company, located at 4961 River Road, Point Pleasant, PA 18950. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
The Friends of the Delaware Canal is an independent, not-for-profit organization working to restore, preserve, and improve the Canal and its surroundings. Throughout the Friends’ 40 years, they have accomplished many projects, including several authentic Camelback Bridge restorations, the installation of 9/11 memorial benches in honor of local victims, the installation of granite Mile Markers, and much more. Many of these projects were funded entirely by the Friends members and supporters, and many projects required sweat equity.
