NEWTOWN, PA — Renovations are underway at the future site of P.J. Whelihan’s at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center located between Ulta Beauty and Bomba.
The New Jersey-based PJW Restaurant Group is transforming the former Iron Hill Brewery storefron into its newest pub, family restaurant, and sports bar.
“Right now it’s all dust and drills, but soon it’s crispy wings, cold beers, and a room full of fans who know where to be when the game’s on,” wrote PJ’s on Facebook. “Good times are getting an upgrade.”
P.J.’s encourages its fans to follow its Instagram and Newtown Facebook pages to keep up with the progress of renovations and information about jobs. Help wanted signs can also be found posted in the front windows of the future restaurant.

The new P.J. Whelihans will have the same look and feel as its other Delaware Valley locations, from the color scheme to its big screen TVs. The only thing that will be different at Newtown is P.J.’s will be keeping the existing wall bar, as opposed to its signature island bar.
“We are very excited to be coming to Newtown,” said David Chojnowski, vice president of development with the PJW Restaurant Group. “If you look at our locations on a map, Bucks County is a big hole. We have been looking to come here for quite some time and Newtown was the bullseye.”
Food-wise, Whelihan’s is known for its famous wings (classic or boneless) with a choice of 10 different sauces, from mild to zippy and sweet to hot, hot, hot with scorpion and flamin’ pickleback.
“We also have burgers, sandwiches, salads and entrees - more of your American fare,” he said. Main dishes range from a fajita bowl, fish and chips, grilled chicken, and crab cakes, to grilled salmon and a Roadhouse Rack of Ribs.
The new restaurant could be ready to open as early as May.
