NEWTOWN, PA — The 14th annual "Bookin' For Lookin' Race For Sight" 5K Run and Walk will step off on Sunday, April 26, at 8:30 a.m. at Council Rock North High School.
Mark McCowan, who is blind and an avid runner of half marathons, founded the "Bookin' For Lookin' Race For Sight" in 2013 to raise awareness of the struggles people face with vision impairment. Since then, he has raised more than $125,000 to support nonprofit organizations that help blind and visually impaired individuals.
This year's Bookin' For Lookin' Race For Sight is part of the Bucks County 5K Series, now celebrating its 30th year.
Every year, runners and walkers of all ages come together in April to help fight blindness one stride at a time. The race starts at Council Rock North High School and loops through scenic Tyler State Park.
Participants enjoy food, a Starbucks coffee bar, music, and a photo area. The event will include finisher medals, awards for the top finishers in each age category, and a free raffle ticket for a chance to win gift cards from Amazon and merchandise from Wawa, the Athletic Shoe Shop and Elite Sports.
All proceeds from the race benefit the Bucks County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The nonprofit organization's mission is to connect, advocate, and educate through services that enhance the quality of life for people impacted by vision loss.
