NEWTOWN, PA — On Saturday, May 16, Bomba ¡Tacos + Tequila! will turn up the volume after dark with a Yacht Rock Dance Party launching a year-round series of nightlife events designed for the 30+ Lower Bucks crowd who still know all the words to their favorite ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s hits.
Opening night will feature popular dance music from that era as well as Yacht Rock classics that have been remixed for the dance floor to keep the energy high.
The Retro Rewind dance parties will be featured at least once a month on Friday or Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. Guests can expect DJs, dancing, themed parties and nostalgic cocktails — all without heading into the city to endure parking issues, late-night chaos and a long drive home. Admission is free with pre-registration.
“Today’s adult Philadelphia-area suburbanites were regular guests at our company’s popular nightclubs while in their 20s," said co-owner Barry Gutin. "Now is a great time for us to ‘meet them where they are’ with energetic parties conceived with our old friends in mind — suburban nightlife for adults who don’t want to go into the city — easy parking, familiar faces and no after-midnight mayhem. Perfect for an impromptu couples’ night out or a full-squad celebration for birthdays or other milestone events.”
The restaurant's main dining room will transform as the lights dim, colorful nightlife illumination begins and a handful of tables retreat to make way for a dance floor.
Bomba’s kitchen will pump out tacos and much more until 11 p.m. throughout the restaurant’s varied indoor and outdoor spaces, while bartenders will be crafting special retro cocktails — think Tequila Sunrises, Sex on the Beach and Amaretto Sours.
The nostalgic, high-energy nights target Millennials and Gen Xers who grew up on the music of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Guests will be encouraged to party “like it’s 1999,” as DJs including Capt. Yachtly and DJ Bobby Boombox spin the hits that defined their youth.
The energy will be at its highest during each event’s signature moment - Moonlight Margarita Madness, as $5 margaritas and general mayhem take over for 15 minutes beginning at 10:45 p.m.
Bomba’s screens will be throwing it back with nonstop reels of pop culture from revelers’ glory days. Think retro tech, iconic fads, classic album art, and movie posters that hit partiers right in the nostalgia.
Bomba’s follow up Retro Rewind event on Friday, June 5, will be “Pretty In Pink," a dance party celebrating the 1980s - the golden era of coming-of-age films, and will raise funds for Susan G. Komen and its research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Additional events will include Boy Band Night on Saturday, June 27, “Stuck in Bucks” parties on summer holiday weekends and post-summer event “Shore No More.” The events, along with weekend late happy hour (Fridays and Saturdays, 8:30 to 11 p.m., excluding Retro Rewind events), daily happy hours (4 to 6 p.m.), Taco Tuesday, Margarita Monday, Man vs. Tacos (Sundays), and weekend brunch, will fill out Bomba’s lively activities calendar.
