Camp is a supervisor and investigator with the department’s detective division, having extensive experience in patrol and investigations, including forensic, cyber, and criminal investigations.

Sergeant Camp attended Northwestern University School of Police, Staff, and Command, the Mid-Atlantic FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development course in Princeton, and has attended the first of three FBI command trilogy courses.

Camp frequently travels to Huntsville, Alabama to attend the FBI Redstone Arsenal Training Facility where he learns to stay ahead of 21st-century threats. Redstone is considered to be the graduate school for digital crime fighting.

“A police sergeant is one of the most critical positions within a police department,” said Chief John Hearn. “It is a critical bridge between patrol officers and command staff to accomplish the mission of the department. They are responsible for leading shift operations, investigations, and mentoring newer officers, reviewing reports, and managing critical incidents, all while ensuring officer safety and accountability.”

He continued, “A great police sergeant leads by example, makes tough calls, stays calm under pressure, and supports their team with clear communication and respect while holding their assigned personnel accountable.”
