UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — Numerous mailboxes were smashed during a vandalism spree late Monday night into early Tuesday morning on Creamery Road and on several other roads around the township, including Thomson Mill Road and River Road, police said.

“As of now, we do not have any video of these incidents, but the investigation is ongoing," police said. "If you have cameras and live near where these incidents occurred, check your surveillance video during the overnight hours. If you find anything suspicious, give us a call. It would be much appreciated.”

Officers were also called to the Washington Crossing Convenience Store on Route 532 after a customer saw a subject placing items in their backpack and alerted staff.

Police said that when the person tried to run, the customer stopped them, but the suspected thief got away before police arrived.

Their escape didn’t last long as they were eventually found and promptly arrested, police said.

“A huge thank you to that customer and to the Hopewell Township Police Department for their help,” police said.
