People Magazine Features Washington Crossing Park In 1976 Retrospective

UPPER MAKFIELD, PA — Washington Crossing Historic Park is featured in a new People magazine retrospective looking back at how America celebrated its Bicentennial in 1976.

The article highlights the park's iconic Christmas Day Crossing reenactment, one of the nation's longest-running Revolutionary War traditions, and includes historic photographs from the personal collection of longtime reenactor Ronald Rinaldi, who first participated in the Bicentennial reenactment in 1976 and has helped bring this story to life for generations.

"We're grateful to Ron for generously sharing these remarkable images and helping preserve the history of this unforgettable moment," park officials wrote on Facebook. "We would also like to recognize Steve Mervish, longtime photographer for The Trentonian, whose historic photograph was featured in the story.

"As we continue commemorating America's 250th anniversary, we're honored that the legacy of Washington Crossing Historic Park remains part of the national conversation, and we look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors back to the banks of the Delaware this December for another Christmas Day Crossing reenactment," said park officials.
