While motorists won’t be able to access the shops and businesses on State Street between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., they are encouraged to use an alternate route to access the parking lot behind Maime Colette and the Wine and Spirits store.

The lot can easily be accessed by entering the municipal lot on Centre Avenue across from First National Bank, driving to the rear of the closed liquor store building, and parking behind in the lot behind the Fine Wine and Good Spirits store and Mamie Colette.

While the work is only expected to last until July 31, the owner of Mamie Colette is concerned by the latest road closure and the impact it could have on her business.

Isabelle Noblanc, who owns Mamie Colette, is encouraging her customers to use the alternative route to access the popular bakery and its mouthwatering croissants. She posted a map on the store's Facebook page showing the route.

“Everybody’s hurting. It’s not just us,” she said of the sudden loss of traffic. “We need the community’s support now more than ever. We are sorry it’s an inconvenience, but there is an access route they can use.”
