NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County is tuning up for a free Bon Voyage Concert on Sunday at Bucks County Community College, Newtown Campus, beginning at 4 p.m.

"Bring a blanket or lawn chair and join us as we send off the orchestra," said concert organizers. "The free outdoor performance under the direction of Sebastian Grand will showcase the musical program the ensemble will perform during the tour."

Following the concert, the orchestra's tour ensemble will embark on a 10-day tour through the French Alps & Riviera, performing in Martigny, Chateau de La Tour d’Aigues, Avignon, and Villefranche-sur-mer.

"In addition to sharing their music with international audiences, students will experience the rich culture, history, and sites of one of Europe's most beautiful regions," said Grand.

International tours have long been a hallmark of the YOBC experience, providing young musicians with the opportunity to perform abroad while developing as artists and leaders. YOBC has toured biennially since 2002.

The upcoming season includes weekly Sunday afternoon rehearsals in Newtown, two annual concert weekends, educational workshops for both students and parents, and performances with student soloists. Based on their level of mastery, students are placed in one of YOBC's seven core ensembles, including two full orchestras, two concert bands, and three string orchestras.

Founded in 1991, the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County provides high-quality ensemble experiences for young musicians from throughout Bucks County and the surrounding region. Through challenging repertoire, outstanding conductors, and meaningful performance opportunities, YOBC helps students develop musical excellence while fostering teamwork, leadership, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

New student auditions are still being accepted for the 2026-27 season, which begins in September. Students who play a string, brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument and are in grades 3-12 can audition by submitting a pre-recorded video. Tuition Assistance is available.
